HAND-WOVEN MEDITERRANEAN RED CORAL BRACELET WITH GOLD-PLATED 925 STERLING SILVER CLASP

A distinctive artisan bracelet entirely woven and assembled by hand by Perna Laboratorio Orafo in Torre del Greco, Italy.

The bracelet is composed of numerous small polished spherical beads of Mediterranean red coral, measuring approximately 2.5–3 mm in diameter.

This is not a conventional bracelet formed from a simple sequence of threaded beads. Each coral sphere has been individually incorporated into a dense and interconnected structure using the traditional local technique known as “lavorazione tessita”.

This highly specialised and time-intensive method is deeply rooted in the coral-jewellery tradition of Torre del Greco. It requires precision, patience and continuous control of the weaving tension throughout the entire manufacturing process.

The result is a compact, flexible and three-dimensional bracelet with a richly textured surface, substantial visual presence and distinctive handcrafted character.

The bracelet is completed with polished terminal caps and an elegant openwork spherical clasp in gold-plated 925 sterling silver. The restrained warm-gold finish creates a refined contrast with the intense red colour of the Mediterranean coral.

The 925 fineness mark is clearly visible and documented in the detailed photographs.

This is a newly produced, non-serial artisan jewel created by Perna Laboratorio Orafo, an independent goldsmith’s workshop in Torre del Greco, Italy.

THE ART OF THE “LAVORAZIONE TESSITA”

The principal value and identity of this bracelet lie not only in its materials, but also in the extensive manual work required to construct it.

Every small coral sphere is individually incorporated into the weave, gradually creating a compact and continuous tubular structure. Correct execution requires considerable patience and precise control of tension, spacing and alignment.

Unlike a conventional single-strand or loose multi-strand bracelet, the beads are structurally interconnected. This woven arrangement creates volume, flexibility and a characteristic tactile quality while allowing the bracelet to adapt naturally to the wrist.

The visible thread is an integral structural component of the bracelet. It forms the supporting architecture of the weave and provides direct evidence of its genuinely handmade construction.

As the bracelet is woven entirely by hand, slight variations in tension, bead alignment, spacing and surface regularity may be visible. These characteristics are not manufacturing defects, but authentic evidence of manual craftsmanship that gives the jewel its individual identity.

MEDITERRANEAN CORAL

The polished beads display subtle variations in red tone, shape, surface appearance and lustre.

Coral is an organic material, and minor differences between individual beads are consistent with its natural character. These variations contribute depth, movement and visual richness to the completed bracelet.

No attempt has been made during assembly to artificially standardise the appearance of the individual spheres.

GOLD-PLATED 925 STERLING SILVER DETAILS

The terminal caps, connecting elements and decorative spherical clasp are made of gold-plated 925 sterling silver.
