A folio from an 18th Century Chinese Qur'an (circa 1760), which contains verses 40-41 of the Meccan chapter 35, Surah Fatir (The Originator), a chapter which demonstrates God's infinite power through the marvels of His creation, in contrast with the powerlessness of the pagan idols. Verses 40 and 41 specifically challenge the logic of polytheism and emphasise God's absolute power and control over the universe and are are translated as, "Say, 'Have you considered your partners [false gods] whom you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created from the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens? Or have We given them a Book so they are on clear proof from it? Rather, the wrongdoers do not promise one another except delusion."

Sini script is used, a distinctive Chinese style of Arabic calligraphy developed by Muslim communities in China, suggesting brush strokes. It is in Muhhaqaq, characterised by bold left leaning extended upstrokes of the pen, well-spaced ligatures, and shallow and sweeping horizontal sublinear flourishes. It is 'meticulously produced' as the name implies. During the caliphate of al Ma'mun (813-833) it became the preferred style of the Warraqun (professional scribes) to enable relatively easy reproduction.

This is a visually arresting folio, in great condition, made not merely for devotion but also Quranic study.
