Großes handgefertigtes ethnografisches Objekt aus Ostafrika (Äthiopien), auf ca. 1930–1940 datiert, hergestellt aus Pflanzenfasern mit Lederbändern und Cowrie-Schalen, Durchmesser 54 cm, Höhe 18 cm, guter Zustand mit altersbedingten Gebrauchsspuren.

Ethnographic Ceremonial Shield / Woven Object – East Africa (Ethiopia), Mid-20th Century
Large hand-crafted ethnographic woven object from East Africa, most likely Ethiopia.
The piece features a finely executed spiral coiling technique with geometrically segmented patterns in red, ochre and green tones.
Characteristic elements include the original leather straps and decorative cowrie shells, traditionally used as symbols of status and cultural identity.
Comparable works are known from the cultural context of the Oromo and Amhara communities.
Objects of this type were used not only as functional or carrying elements, but also as ceremonial and representative pieces, often reflecting social status and regional craftsmanship.
