Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Carved Wooden Panel with Figures
West Africa, 20th century
Large hand-carved wooden panel depicting stylised human figures and geometric motifs in deep relief.
The composition shows vertically arranged figures with angular limbs and simplified facial features, typical of traditional West African sculptural language.
The carving is bold and architectural, suggesting the panel originally functioned as part of a door, wall or structural element rather than as a purely decorative object.
The panel is carved from solid hardwood.
Tool marks, construction joints and natural age cracks are visible, consistent with traditional hand carving and long-term use. The reverse is plain and undecorated.
The panel retains its original carved wooden locking mechanism, indicating its former function as part of a door or architectural structure.
