Vom Verkäufer bereitgestellte Beschreibung
Belgian Art Nouveau Pottery Vase with Coiled Snake c.1905 – In excellent condition – No reserve.
A striking and sculptural Belgian art pottery vase, attributed to the Art Nouveau period (circa 1900–1910), featuring a dramatic coiled snake motif wrapping around the body. The organically tapering form and flowing lines reflect the naturalistic design language that defines Art Nouveau, where movement and nature-inspired forms were central.
The applied serpent, executed in a deep brown glaze against a vivid green ground, gives the piece a strong symbolic and decorative presence, echoing the Symbolist fascination of the fin-de-siècle era with organic, sinuous motifs. The hand-thrown body shows attractive kiln variations and layered glazing typical of early 20th-century Belgian art pottery.
