The successful reception led to the tooling being used to create a more affordable plastic version and, ten years later, to a full production run of the plywood elephant in American cherry. In 2020, to commemorate the elephant's 75th anniversary, Vitra launched another limited run of 999 pieces in a special grey-stained ash wood.
