Chichibu Red Wine Cask 2023 is a single malt whisky aged in red wine casks. The casks themselves come from vineyards in France, the United States, New Zealand and Japan, helping to create deep, complex flavours. To make the most of its characteristics, this whisky has not been chill-filtered and has a natural colour. The casks used allow the whisky to mature on its lees, which is an integral part of the flavour profile of this bottling. Rich and complex. Blueberry, citrus, cedar, mint. Nose: The Chichibu distillery has used the finest red wine casks in the world to create this unique edition. The nose already heralds the masterpiece to come, with a complex balance of honey, fine wood and fruit (medlar, forest berries, citrus). Appearance: Copper with red tints. Palate: Rich flavours from the red wine casks begin with fruity notes. Blueberry is accompanied by the freshness of citrus and medlar. Notes of mint and liquorice maintain this freshness, which becomes more vegetal and woody with elegant cedar. Bitter notes such as cocoa provide a fine structure with a smooth sweetness of fine caramel. Finish: The finish is long, with a pleasant bitterness on notes of clove and orange. The sweetness carries through to the end with a milk chocolate sensation.
