Halskette - USA Santo Domingo heishi

This necklace is a large substantial heishi beads necklace, 19.5” in length and slightly graduated. The end clasp as silver beads and older hook clasp. Southwestern Native American tribes, particularly the Santo Domingo (Kewa) Pueblo of New Mexico are recognize for th technique of creating heishi—thin disc-shaped beads made from shell, stone, or other natural materials—dates back over 6,000 years in the American Southwest.
The graduated design showcases turquoise, shell, and various forms of Jasper, onyx, serpentine other natural materials arranged in a traditional pattern. A unique piece of hand crafted First Nations Pueblo peoples of the southwestern United States.
