Artist: Nakamura Soetsu中村 宗悦 is a lacquer artist from Ishikawa Prefecture, and is highly acclaimed for his work on tea ceremony utensils. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture in 1932, he began studying the traditional lacquering technique of "kyushitsu" under his father's guidance in 1946. In 1967, he received training in the tea ceremony from Master Sowa Nakao of Tokuonji Temple and began to focus on creating tea utensils. He subsequently won numerous awards at national lacquerware exhibitions, received the tea name "Soukyo"「宗恭」 in 1987, and became an associate professor of tea ceremony in 1992, earning him acclaim in the world of tea ceremony.

Nakamura Muneyoshi's works range from tea caddies (natsume), incense holders, tea caddies, shelves, and more, and are particularly notable for their skillful maki-e (lacquerware) that expresses the seasons.
