NORDHANDVERK

NordHandverk is an independent Finnish furniture studio creating small-batch furniture and objects from solid wood. Our work combines restrained design, expressive joinery and hand-tool craftsmanship. Each piece is built individually, with an emphasis on honest construction, carefully considered proportions and materials that are intended to age well. Rather than concealing how an object is made, we often make its construction part of the design: visible joints, solid European wood and simple structural forms are recurring elements of the NordHandverk design language. NordHandverk also collaborates with C2R, a circular design and restoration practice founded by Laura Peltola under Laravolution. C2R focuses on restoring existing furniture and creating new objects from reclaimed materials. The two practices remain independent, while sharing a workshop and a common respect for craftsmanship, material value and long-lasting design. NordHandverk creates new objects with lasting construction. C2R gives existing objects and materials a new chapter.
