Description from the seller

This is a sparrow figurine by Hideyama 秀山.
The sparrow is perched on the auspicious Tomoe crest (tomoe crest).
The Tomoe crest is well-known in Japan as a symbol of a drum.
Both sparrows and drums are considered auspicious in Japan.

Sparrows are considered symbols of "safety of the home and prosperity of the family" and "good harvest and abundance." This comes from their flocking habits and the wordplay on "pecking away misfortune." The "puffed sparrow" (kakurasuzume) is also often seen in traditional crafts as a symbol of "bringing good fortune and prosperity of descendants."

Auspicious Symbol
Safety of the home and prosperity of the family: Based on the wordplay on "pecking away misfortune," sparrows are considered auspicious birds that ward off misfortune from the home.

Good harvest and abundance: Because they move in groups, they are thought to represent good harvests and prosperity.
"Puffed Sparrow": The image of a sparrow puffing up its feathers to protect itself from the cold is also written as "Fukura Suzume" (lucky sparrow) or "Fukurai Suzume" (lucky sparrow), and is a beloved symbol of "bringing good fortune," "abundance," and "prosperous descendants."

Other Symbolism
Married Couple: It can also symbolize a loving marriage.

Commoner: In the Korean Peninsula, it is considered a symbol of the common people.

Small Objects: As the saying goes, "sparrow's tears" (tears of a sparrow) refers to something small and insignificant.

The "tomoe crest" is often used as a drum decoration or a sacred crest at shrines. In addition to representing thunder, the comma crest also has various meanings, such as swirling water, a snake, a talisman, and auspicious omen. The drum itself is also sometimes used as a lucky charm, symbolizing "fruit bearing" and "accomplishment."

. Meaning of the Drum Mark
Thunder: The intense sound of the drum is likened to thunder.
Water whirlpool: Representing a water whirlpool, it is sometimes used as a fire talisman.
Talisman/amulet: It is said to have the meaning of warding off misfortune.
Lucky: Considered an auspicious motif that brings abundant harvests, it is sometimes used for auspicious occasions such as good harvests and weddings.
Yin-Yang and the Five Elements: Based on the Tai Chi philosophy, it is also used as a motif that expresses conflict and harmony between things.
