Description from the seller
Description
Paintings by the Bergense artist Bram Vegt (1929-2020) often feature a distinctive vivid color palette. This is well reflected in this beautiful oil painting of tulips (out of bloom) in a vase.
Signature directly below B. Vegt.
About the artist:
Bram Vegt, a largely self-taught artist, has been painting independently since 1980 in his studio in Zaandam.
He received his first education in the painter's village Bergen, with advice from Jaap Sax and painting lessons from Han Welledieck and Mary Koekebier. Subsequently, he took classes in Amsterdam at the Stichting Kunstzinnige Vorming (S.K.V.A.), including lessons from Ikor Kecsmiac, Anneke Hunt, and Cor Vrolijk. He then spent a few years with the Zaanse artist Reina Koerten.
In addition to painting, he received advice and lessons from the artist David Meibergen (see Pieter Scheen), which led him to perform extensive restoration work for collectors and art dealers. He carried out a years-long restoration on canvas of the paintings of the St. Bonifacius church in Zaandam. He was briefly a member of the Zaanse Schilderskring and for many years a member of the Zaanse Modeltekenclub.
Exhibitions have included: Het NoordHollands Dagblad (7 cityscapes of Zaandam), La Place, restaurant Zaandam, cityscapes. Kunsthandel Zoutman, Zaandijk. Galerie Pandora, Zaandam. Kunsthandel Expo, Zaandam. Galerie 23, Koog aan de Zaan. Galerie Profiel, Beverwijk.
