Roberto Montanaro’s Banana Unchained #4 is an original 2025 mixed media work with acrylic paint, in blue, red and silver, measuring 31 cm by 25 cm, signed, sold with frame, from Italy, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Roberto Montanaro's work resumes and intensifies the theme of emancipation through a radical color choice that amplifies the sense of conflict and urgency.
The bright and saturated red of the background immediately evokes passion, danger, anger, revolution, and intense vitality. This color creates a sort of 'emotional pressure chamber,' amplifying the difficulty and importance of the act of liberation.
The bright blue metallic banana becomes an almost superhero-like figure, a 'non-natural' entity. Blue is often associated with calm, but at this intensity, it also suggests electric energy, unstoppable strength, and a cold determination that opposes the aggressive warmth of the background.
The contrast between blue and red is classic and very powerful. Here, it symbolizes a dramatic struggle between identity (the Blue) and the constriction or system (the Red) that surrounds it.
The pose is energetic and contorted, but the brightness of the blue captures the light so strongly that it makes the fighting action even more dramatic and theatrical. The shadow cast on the red frame accentuates the three-dimensionality and the illusion of a figure actually emerging from a plane.
Montanaro is building a cohesive series that plays with the emotion and symbolism of colors while maintaining a fixed iconographic form.
It is a work that passionately highlights the importance of personal struggle with great aesthetic elegance.
