Description from the seller

Description
Very fine antique Dutch gin/liqueur jug made of earthenware (faience), executed in Delft blue, produced in Delft during the Joost Thooft & Labouchère period of De Porceleyne Fles, circa 1890–1905.
The jug has a rectangular (square) base, a flattened body, a pouring spout, and a sturdy-shaped handle. This type of jug was used for storing and presenting gin and liqueurs and is less common than decorative Delftware such as plates and vases.

Decoration
Richly hand-painted underglaze in cobalt blue with classic Dutch landscapes, including:
wind turbines
waterpartijen
sailing boats
The decoration is framed by graceful ornament bands. The transparent glaze displays a beautiful, evenly craquelé, fitting for its age.

Brands and markings
Underside underglaze marked with:
the factory bottle
• JT
Delft
letter code V
• additional internal product markings, including '77'
relief-formed edge codes
This combination is characteristic of the production method of De Porceleyne Fles during the JT&L period.
The numbers and codes refer to internal series, batch, or mold codes and are not public or dating marks.

Dimensions
Height: 23 cm
Width: 10 cm
Depth: 6.5 cm

Condition
Great antique state
No fractures, tears, or restorations.
Normal signs of use and aging.
Craquelé suitable for the age.
See the photos; they are an integral part of the description.

Note for collectors
Jenever jars from De Porceleyne Fles from the JT&L period are less common than decorative Delftware such as plates and vases. Similar examples are generally valued higher by collectors and traders within the Dutch pottery and jenever history segment, partly due to their functional shape, the quality of the painting, and their good condition. 'Such jars are especially sought after by specialized collectors of Delftware and Dutch drink history.'
