1 x Bottle of 1943 Viña Real Reserva Especial from CVNE in La Rioja - Spain.
Despite the official vintage rating as "Good" the Reserva Especial where only released on the best vintages.
Purchased from a highly reputable retired restaurateur in the north of Spain, this is pure history. A must try for any collector who wishes to understand a classic Rioja fully matured. Fill level is very good for its age. No leeks, cork seems fine and the capsule is holding great for its age. The wine coulour (see pictures) is perfect.
About 1943 Viña Real Reserva Especial

Long aging in old wooden vats until malolactic fermentation is complete, followed by further aging in the same vats before being transferred to oak barrels. The wine matures for between 12 and 13 years (the exact date is unknown to the winery) in used 225-liter American oak barrels. Unfiltered. Depending on the vintage, it is aged for between 48 and 100 months in the bottle. Final bottling estimaged in early 60s´.
Blend: 70% tempranillo, 25% garnacha, 5% mazuelo y viura
