Magnificent patinated bronze sculpture, by Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (France, 1824-1887), titled 'Melodie' (or 'Harmonie').
It depicts the spirit of music in the form of a beautiful young woman playing a lyre. The lady, dressed in classical attire and elevated on a pedestal, has a pose that is both graceful and daring.
The work is cast with great clarity, paying special attention to anatomical details and the texture of the hair, and bears the artist's signature.

The figure is in very good condition, with only some signs of wear, mainly on the base. It is one of the numerous reproductions made by Parisian publishers during the 20th century.
