Nino Aimone (1932-2020) attended the studio of Felice Casorati from 1951 to 1954; during those years, he was one of the founders of the magazine 'Orsa Minore.'
Until 1961, his artistic activity was influenced by his work, first as a factory worker and then as an advertising graphic designer at Fiat.
Starting from the second half of the 20th century, a small community of Turin painters formed in Cervo, all the main representatives of the national artistic scene: among the first to arrive was the artist Francesco Casorati with his father Felice and mother Daphne Maugham.
Soon after, Piero Martina, Francesco Menzio, Nicola Galante, Sergio Saroni, Romano Campagnoli, and his father Adalberto arrived; then it was the turn of the cadets Mauro Chessa and Nino Aimone.
Since 1967, he has been an assistant at the Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, initially in the painting course, then in the engraving course, and finally in the decoration course.
In 1989, he obtained the chair of Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts, first in Venice and the following year in Turin.
He debuted in 1954, subsequently participating in several major national and international exhibitions: the 28th and 29th Venice Biennale and the Quadriennale di Roma of 1965, to mention only the most important ones.
In 1995, he was commissioned for a retrospective exhibition at the Circolo degli Artisti di Torino.
Among Aimone's numerous exhibitions at the national and international levels, in addition to the Roman biennale and quadriennale, we remember:
1957/58 Budapest, Bucharest, Sofia, Warsaw, Prague
Exhibition of Young Italian Painting, Moscow
1963 Beirut - Contemporary Italian Painting
1995 Turin, Circolo degli Artisti
Anthology Exhibition with Catalog.
Edited by Marco Rosci and Pino Mantovani.
1997 Stuttgart - Double Gallery
2008 Alassio, Municipality, Former Anglican Church
Nino Aimone edited by Nicola Davide Angerame
March - September 2024 at the Accorsi Ometto Museum of Decorative Arts in Turin, an exhibition curated by Francesco Poli, titled 'Turin in the 1950s. The Great Season of Informal Art.'
