Built by shipyard Edmund Hart on behalf of the United States Navy.
The construction was started on November 1, 1794.
The water landing was on October 21, 1797.
The Constitution is mainly known for its actions in the American War of 1812.
During the civil war, she served as a training ship, and in 1881, she was retired from active service.
In 1997, she sailed on her own power for her 200th birthday.
It was recommissioned in 2012 to commemorate the victory over the Guerriere.
