Waterman Inview Deluxe fountain pen, made in the United States in the first half of the 20th century, with a black hard resin/ebonite body and cap, gold‑plated fittings, 134 mm long and 12 mm in diameter, lever‑fill mechanism, and an 18k gold nib (18 CTS, no. 3) in structurally good condition with minor wear, one item.
Description from the seller
The Waterman’s Ideal fountain pen is presented in good overall condition, especially noteworthy considering its age and its status as a vintage collectible piece.
The body and cap, made of hard resin/black ebonite, retain a uniform shine and a solid structure. Light surface marks are visible, mainly micro-scratches and signs of handling typical of use and age, with no cracks, breaks, or deformations. The engravings on the body — Waterman's, REG. U.S. PAT. OFF., IDEAL, MADE IN U.S.A., and FOUNTAIN PEN — remain clear, legible, and well-defined, adding historical and collectible value to the piece.
The 18-karat solid gold nib (18 CTS, no. 3) is structurally sound, with no cracks, breaks, or visible deviations. It shows patina and signs of use typical of pens from this era, maintaining its original shape. The vent and edges are intact.
The lever-loading system, correctly positioned on the side of the body, is complete and present. The lever is well integrated into the barrel, with proper mechanical operation. However, as is common with vintage pens, the internal sac has not been checked and may require replacement or maintenance for prolonged ink use.
The clip and the gold-colored metallic elements show cosmetic wear consistent with age, with partial loss of shine and small signs of use, without affecting their functionality or overall aesthetics.
Overall, it is an authentic, honest, and well-preserved pen, ideal for both collection and light restoration and occasional use, maintaining its original character and historical value.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
