Japan, 1867, an original Surimono woodblock print by Shunseikyo Baigai (active in the 1860s), titled “Surimono Sheet from Hazukishu,” 18.5 × 24.2 cm, Late Edo period, 19th century, in good condition and plate signed.

Original Surimono woodblock print by Shunseikyo Baigai (act. 1860s) - "Sheet from Hazukishu" - Japan - 1867
Sheet from the Album "Hazukishu" (an Anthology for the First Month of the Year).
(Preface by Harunoya shujin Ikuhisa)
(Postscript by the artist Shunseikyo Baigai, dated 2/1867)
The album was published as a memorial for Hagetsutei Kasetsu, a poet who died in 1865.
The illustration may be a record of pictures that he personally owned.
The group of pictures of a variety of subjects in several pictorial styles, eaqch within in an irregular border.
A number of pictures combined on one sheet, in this case 4.
All pictures signed, and with a red seal, not translated.
On a Japanese washi paper, in good condition. Colors in very good condition. Mounted on old japanese album
backing.
Size is 18.5x 24.2cm.
