Description from the seller
Discover the unique beauty of Paul Wunderlich's 'Triton and Melusine' – a fascinating sculpture pair in bronze that will enrich your collection.
These enchanting artworks, hand-patinated and partially polished, rise majestically on a plinth and bronze mount and are truly eye-catching.
Each sculpture reaches a height of 39 cm.
With skirting board and bracket, they measure an impressive 47.5 cm.
Despite their size, they are surprisingly manageable at 4.5 kg each.
What makes these artworks particularly exclusive is their limited edition of only 99 copies. Each sculpture is numbered. If you choose these artworks, you will receive a unique piece of art that not only enhances your collection but also represents a valuable investment.
The production of these sculptures is carried out using the elaborate wax casting process, also known as 'cire perdue.' This centuries-old metal casting technique requires the highest level of craftsmanship and skill. A wax model is created from the original form of the sculpture and encased in clay. During firing, the wax model is melted out, creating a hollow space that precisely matches the shape of the sculpture. Liquid bronze is poured into this cavity, and after cooling, the clay is removed. Both the wax model and the clay shell are destroyed in the process, which is why this method is also known as the 'lost form' process.
The elaborate post-processing of the sculptures is also done by hand, with patination, polishing, and waxing performed as needed and according to specifications. Each sculpture in this limited edition requires the creation of a separate wax model, which makes the process extremely time-consuming.
These works by Paul Wunderlich are not only art pieces but also craftsmanship masterpieces. They are an enrichment for any collection and an investment in timeless elegance.
