Description from the seller
Beautiful colorful work by Broer Dubbelsteen. The piece is in a nice frame and is in good condition.
Broer Dobbelsteen, born as Johannes Anthonius (Johan) van den Dobbelsteen (Mierlo, 1936 – 2019), studied at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven. In the first years after his education, he worked as a designer, but from 1964 onwards, he worked as a full-time artist. His work was characterized by primary colors and large surfaces, rough shapes, and a playful approach to the subject. He belonged to the expressionist movement, which largely defined the face of the first half of the twentieth century. Experimentation, spontaneity, and freedom were used as the main principles. The use of bright colors and simple forms is typical of Dobbelsteen's work.
He was partly inspired by the Cobra movement. His paintings are widely distributed among institutions, art dealers, galleries, and private collectors.
