Born in Uccle in 1930 and settled in Paris from the late 1940s, Marc Janson belongs to that generation of painters who have restored to painting its evocative power and mystery. Trained notably with Édouard MacAvoy, he developed very early a unique visual language, nourished by surrealism, cloudism, and a prolific imagination where the vegetal, the animal, and the human intertwine in a unique visual poetry.
His work, exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Milan, Geneva, Singapore, and Honolulu, has been showcased in leading institutions such as the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and the Maeght Foundation. Several of his works have been acquired by FNAC, confirming the institutional recognition of his work.
Janson creates suspended worlds, traversed by airy shapes, mythical gardens, and metamorphic creatures. His canvases, often described as 'dreamlike,' captivate with their narrative depth and technical refinement. They offer collectors an immediately recognizable universe, simultaneously rare, poetic, and timeless.
Today, the work of Marc Janson attracts an audience appreciative of imaginative art and surrealist influences. His paintings, sought after on the international market, are distinctive pieces capable of enriching a collection through their evocative power and unique elegance.
