Description from the seller
Johannes Pieter van Wisselingh (1812-1899)
Signature: Lower left
Dimensions 20 x 26 cm
Provenance:
From a private collection
Johannes Pieter van Wisselingh, born in 1812, had already established a certain reputation as a painter in the Rhenen area when he apprenticed with Schelfhout in 1840. Around 1844, he moved from The Hague to Renkum, and in 1848, he permanently relocated to Utrecht. Van Wisselingh's oeuvre, besides forest and heathland scenes, mainly consists of panoramic summer landscapes, which he combined with a preference for topographical details. Known works include views of Haarlem, Voorburg, Heelsum, Arnhem, and Amersfoort. In terms of composition, they are closely related to Schelfhout's panoramic landscapes.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
