of the world's last facsimile collotype prints of Pablo Picasso “Man with Cigarette” (by the formerly famous Verlag der Kunst Dresden). This collotype was produced in a limited and numbered edition of 600 copies.
The heavy white museum board (handmade paper) measures 70 x 56 cm and has a four-sided handmade paper cut. The collotype has a print area of 52 x 40 cm.
Collotype was a type of lithographic printing that is around 125 years old and has now been discontinued, in which an almost photographic reproduction was achieved by means of halftone-less wrinkle grain with up to fourteen color printing passes (with special decades-long lightfast colors), which is by far the noblest printing technique and cannot be achieved lightfast even today with the most modern production methods. Due to the time-consuming, manual and therefore cost-intensive work process, the lack of artist or museum commissions and the lack of future prospects for specialized skilled workers, this most faithful of all known printing processes has been considered “extinct” worldwide for two decades and can no longer be produced.
This is why these last classic facsimile collotype prints are something special and irretrievable for every lover of historical printing art.
The print will be sent securely packaged.
It will be sent as a registered and insured parcel.
