Description from the seller
Francisco Blasco, a Spanish painter born in Ruzafa, Valencia. He learned the art of engraving under the guidance of Rocafort. He was a disciple of Mariano Liñán, who granted him a pension for the improvement of his studies in Paris. Upon returning from abroad, already a member of the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, he was appointed in Valencia as Deputy Director and Professor of engraving at the Academy of San Carlos. His Majesty appointed him court engraver, and the Academies of San Luis and San Fernando welcomed him into their fold. His most well-known works include: the portrait of Father Arolas, which is at the forefront of a collection of his poetry, and that of Don Ramón de Campoamor, which appears in the poem of Columbus. He died on March 5, 1864.
Highly qualified painter, with extensive pictorial experience, very well-executed work with an impressionist touch and numerous details worthy of a master like Don Francisco, whose works are spread throughout Europe. The painting depicts the movement of water and characters prepared for any accident. It belonged to a Valencian family settled in Andalusia for years. It is sold with the original frame from the period, a rear protector has been added, and the overall condition is quite good with signs of age. It will be shipped securely packed by an international company.
