Description from the seller
Vintage1970s Seiko 2601-0150 Analog Quartz Watch, Made in Kameido, Gold, New Battery Replaced, Tested and Working
This 1970s Seiko Model No. 2601-0150 quartz watch is a vintage model manufactured at the亀戸製Kameido factory, model of evolution process from the Dawn of Quartz. The 1970s was the era when Seiko introduced the world's first quartz wristwatch, the Astron. This is a model that follows that tradition, boasting high accuracy and easy maintenance. Simple and Refined Design with the minimalist style of SGP gold case and band with pale gold dial and two hands which match both business and casual wear. Its highly legible design is timeless. This model was produced at the most reliable Seiko factory Sowa Seiko Sha 諏訪精工舎in the late 1990s. Regarding the "2601" movement's features (accuracy, battery life warning, etc.), it is an analog quartz movement manufactured at the Kameido factory (Dai-ni Seikosha) in the 1970s. It features a simple calendar movement with an accuracy of approximately ±15 seconds per month. However, it does not feature the "battery life warning feature (two-second hand movement)" found in modern quartz watches. Modern quartz watches (e.g.,7Nseries,V145, etc.) have a "two-second hand movement" that indicates when the battery is low. The 2639 movement (manufactured in the 1970s) does not feature this function. It simply stops when the battery runs out. At the time, battery life warning functions were not yet common, so regular battery changes were required. In terms of accuracy and practicality, it was extremely accurate for a quartz movement of the time (with a monthly deviation of ±15seconds), achieving far greater accuracy than mechanical watches (with a daily deviation of ±10s of seconds). Its simple structure makes it relatively easy to repair and maintain, making it a valuable vintage collectible today. From a practical standpoint, however, you'll need to manage the timing of battery changes yourself. The Seiko "2601" movement is a simple caliber that symbolizes high-precision quartz technology from the 1970s. It's a vintage watch with a rich character, allowing you to experience the technological level of the time. This watch is not flashy, but it is a gentle presence that accompanies you in your daily life, and it is a watch that quietly embodies Seiko's philosophy of "practicality and reliability." While not flashy, it exudes a quiet presence and historical value. Relatively affordable for a vintage watch, it is popular with those who enjoy a retro feel and as an entry-level model for collectors, It comes with a new battery and has been tested for operation, providing peace of mind and ready-to-use functionality.
