Swan Mabie Todd & Co, Swan model lever-filler fountain pen, made in the United Kingdom from marbled green olive, amber and gold-toned celluloid, with a solid 14K gold No.1 nib, 134 mm long and 12 mm in diameter, in working order and in good condition.
Description from the seller
This Swan Mabie Todd & Co. SM1/58 fountain pen, made in England around 1938–1945, is in excellent condition, fully maintaining its original elegance and functionality.
The body and the cap, crafted in marbled celluloid in shades of olive green, gold, and amber, exhibit a deep and uniform shine, free of cracks or fissures. The characteristic pearlescent reflections of the material remain vivid, showcasing the artisanal refinement typical of Mabie Todd & Co.
The chrome metal clip, engraved with the name Swan, retains its original shape and a uniform polish, with a slight, barely perceptible vintage patina. The central ring maintains its firm structure without material loss. The side engraving 'Swan Mabie Todd & Co. Ltd. Made in England' is sharp and perfectly legible, confirming the authenticity of the piece.
The original 14-karat solid gold nib (14K), size No.1, is in excellent structural condition, with no deformations or wear. It offers a smooth, fluid, and semi-flexible writing experience, with a fine, elastically responsive line, ideal for both continuous writing and expressive calligraphy.
The lateral lever filler system is fully operational. The lever operates precisely, and the inner bag maintains good sealing and stable flow. The cap threads work smoothly and fit securely.
Overall, it is a perfectly preserved collectible piece, functional and aesthetically impeccable, reflecting the mastery and sophistication of British design from the golden age of fountain pens. A pen that combines beauty, history, and exceptional writing performance.
It will be sent in a courtesy box for proper preservation.
