Franco Curatti (1928-2012) was one of the most active and important painters of his generation. He worked for nearly sixty years, producing a great deal, always in a highly personal style that was, in some aspects, countercurrent. His bouquets of flowers are very famous, with very current still lifes that — thanks to his sensitivity and enviable technique — seemed almost to come alive again. But he was also a painter of ballerinas and landscapes, of seascapes and — to emphasize his versatility — of 'dripping' (literally 'dripping,' a technique of U.S. origin, notably associated with Jackson Pollock). Considered one of the most important painters from Piacenza, his works are exhibited in museums and art galleries in Italy and Canada. He was a very refined artist, highly sought after by museums and private collectors.
