Description from the seller
"The white storms" oil and acrylic 100 x 80 cm
"The White Storms" is a contemporary figurative painting built on the tension between representation and painterly gesture. The portrait is intentionally distorted, constructed from dense layers of paint applied with visible force, fragmenting the face and placing identity in a state of instability. The features are not drawn but shaped through material, with strong brush movements and overlapping strokes that leave the process exposed.
The face appears suspended between control and disintegration. One eye remains clear and alert, almost lucid, while the surrounding areas are chromatically agitated and deformed. Flesh tones shift between warm pinks, reds, and whites, intersected by black and cooler accents, suggesting an internal pressure that disrupts the figure from within. The background, a calm gradient of blue and yellow, acts as a visual counterpoint to the intensity of the foreground, reinforcing the contrast between inner turbulence and external stillness.
The clothing is treated decoratively, featuring stylized botanical motifs that introduce an ornamental register. This controlled, patterned surface contrasts sharply with the raw expressiveness of the face, emphasizing the idea of a social façade set against inner unrest.
The work addresses the fragility of identity and the conflicting forces that shape it. The White Storms does not aim to depict a recognizable individual, but rather a psychological state marked by tension, pressure, and transformation.
The work comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Ionut Hazu born in Bacau Romania is a self-taught painter. As a small child, he was attracted to visual arts and without a mentor to guide them, he took the brushes himself and started painting. Now with works of art that are in all corners of the world he continues his dream.
