A Ming Dynasty Wanli period porcelain blue-and-white bowl with floral motifs, 9 cm high and 20 cm in diameter, produced in Fujian, Southern China, weighing 612 g, in good condition with minor signs of age and noting chips on the rim and the foot ring with a dripped glaze.
Description from the seller
Large Chinese Wanli bowl with floral motifs in under-glaze blue. Chinese late Ming (1580-1620) blue-and-white bowl decorated with lotus flowers, pond, and ducks. Typical of pieces from South China, Fujian province, and the production method of Swatow kilns. In the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, however, the quality of Ming porcelain declined due to the enormous demand from the imperial court and export trade. Characteristics of porcelain from this period include a grainy foot rim, some areas of glazed over, hairline cracks, and crazing.
Dimensions
9 x 20 cm
Condition
Alright, a small chip on the edge and a small chip on the stand ring, with dripping glaze. (see photos)
