Description from the seller
The 2013 Writers Edition by Montblanc is a prestigious limited series dedicated to the renowned French writer Honoré de Balzac. As with every limited edition from the Maison, the details pay homage to the personality and work of the celebrated author. Balzac's initials are finely engraved, in a style typical of the era, on the solid gold 750 nib. The decorative rings of the pen represent the three main social classes of 19th-century France, masterfully described in La Comédie humaine: the upper ring of the cap, sumptuous and embellished with gold finishes, symbolizes nobility; the middle ring represents the bourgeoisie, while the simple ring on the conical section alludes to the less affluent classes. The design and shape of the pen reflect Balzac's imposing figure and style. The fountain pen's conical section, in particular, recalls the pointed shoes that the writer was known to wear. The dark gray tones of the lacquered body, alternated with refined decorative lines on the cap, evoke the author's everyday attire. To complete the tribute, Balzac's signature is elegantly engraved on the cap, making every detail of this edition an authentic and refined homage.
