This is a traditional Japanese wooden lacquered suzuribako (writing box) featuring an elegant Nashiji Kasumi (mist/ haze) pattern.
The black lacquer ground sprinkled with fine gold powder (nashiji technique) creates a deep, atmospheric appearance reminiscent of drifting mist or haze, conveying a sense of calm refinement and understated elegance.

Crafted from natural wood and finished with genuine urushi lacquer, the box has a beautiful sheen and a high-quality texture.
Although it is unclear whether the item was previously used or unused, it is in excellent condition, with no noticeable scratches or damage, and has been very well preserved overall.
