Description from the seller
Mlick Sidibé: Set of 10 small vintage prints
Exceptional museum pieces (similar vintage items are part of the collections at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and MoMA in New York has just acquired some this year).
It was the reference system used by Malick Sidibé for ordering prints. Most of the photos from his albums do not exist in any other form, as the prints were not ordered and the negatives often did not survive. These photos provide a unique glimpse into social life in Bamako, Mali, during the 1960s and 1970s.
About the vintage photographs by Malick Sidibé (excerpt from the 'Mali Twist' exhibition at the Fondation Cartier):
I displayed these prints in front of the studio where the young people gathered. It was like at the movies. Some would order prints without buying them; the most important thing was that the photos were seen.
Ordered by young Bamako residents dressed in the latest fashion, these photographs are the memory of moments of joy and pleasure when these young people discovered their image enhanced by their "friend" Malick Sidibé.
Certificate of authenticity provided.
Fast and guaranteed delivery (DHL)
Frame without glass provided.
