Description from the seller
MiLo – “Botanical Blues”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Botanical Blues is an expressive abstract painting in which deep cobalt and ultramarine tones form vertical, plant-like shapes against a lighter, textured ground. The composition loosely references botanical growth without becoming figurative, allowing the forms to hover between abstraction and organic presence.
The paint is applied with force and spontaneity, resulting in rich pigment density, splashes, and irregular edges. Drips and bursts of color suggest upward movement and natural expansion, while the restrained palette keeps the work grounded and cohesive.
As with several works in MiLo’s botanical-inspired series, this painting explores growth, rhythm, and repetition through gesture rather than representation. The result is a work that feels both energetic and contemplative, balancing expressive freedom with compositional control.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.
