Description from the seller

The Plattenbau residential buildings of East Berlin were constructed during the GDR as a response to the post-war housing shortage. Built with prefabricated concrete panels, they prioritized speed, functionality, and equality among residents. Today, they are part of the city’s everyday landscape and can be seen as a visible imprint of socialist urbanism, where repetition and scale define both the architecture and the memory of the place.

The photograph The Plattenbau (Berlin 2022) XL is printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Premium Silk Paper and is sold unframed.

Its elegant finish and subtle texture give it a sophisticated appearance, with vibrant, rich colors. The paper’s natural resistance also helps protect the print from fingerprints and scratches.

Each piece is individually numbered and signed, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.

The print is carefully rolled, packaged, and shipped via tracked and insured express courier from Spain to destinations worldwide.

Dominik Valvo is a professional photographer born in Andalusia and based in Madrid, where he exhibits and sells his work in galleries and curated boutique spaces. His eclectic style reflects a deep passion for fashion, contemporary art, and urban culture, drawing inspiration from cities such as Tokyo, New York, and Berlin, as well as from major artistic movements. Among his key influences are iconic figures like Robert Mapplethorpe, David LaChapelle, and Cindy Sherman, whose bold vision and narrative approach resonate throughout his work.

A visual artist dedicated to capturing beauty in all its forms, his photography flows between the erotic, the conceptual, and the documentary. His work explores themes of identity, desire, fetishism, and sexuality, incorporating BDSM elements that highlight power dynamics and personal freedom while challenging established social norms.

His portfolio includes intimate portraits, nudes, and striking travel photography, where contemporary aesthetics intertwine with emotion and self-expression. Alternating between portraiture and urban photography, he captures both the essence of people and the energy of the spaces they inhabit, with a special fascination for the interplay between architecture, light, and movement.

Dominik Valvo’s work has been exhibited across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, attracting international collectors. Each of his images invites reflection and wonder, establishing him as a distinctive voice in the contemporary art scene.
