Description from the seller
A S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 Small lighter, manufactured in Paris, France, during the 1970s, is presented. This specimen, made of solid brass with a 20-micron gold plating, belongs to the gasoline series (wick and flint) and features the elegant guilloché finish 'Lignes Diagonales,' one of the most representative patterns of the house of Dupont at that time.
General condition
The lighter is in excellent condition, with minimal wear that is entirely consistent with its age. The gold plating retains its original, uniform shine, with no loss of coating or matte areas. The diagonal guilloché pattern retains all its definition, with perfectly engraved lines and no signs of excessive polishing.
The lid and hinge feature a precise fit, with a firm closure and the characteristic clean metallic sound ('cling') when opening and closing, a distinctive mark of authentic Dupont lighters. The ignition mechanism functions correctly, generating a smooth spark and a stable blue flame once refilled.
Aesthetic conservation
Gold plating: in excellent condition, with intense and uniform shine.
Guilloché diagonal: sharp and well preserved on all surfaces.
Edges and corners: defined, without dents, dings, or rounding from use.
Lower engravings: 'S.T. Dupont – Paris – Made in France' and visible, legible serial number.
Interior: clean, free of combustion residues or oxidation.
Operation
The lighter has been tested, confirming its full mechanical and ignition functionality. The flame regulation system operates correctly, and the knurled wheel maintains its characteristic smoothness.
Presentation
Accompanied by its original S.T. Dupont box, with beige fabric interior and the 'S.T. Dupont Paris' logo engraved inside the lid. The box is in excellent condition, with no deformations or significant stains, adding extra value to the set.
Professional conclusion
Authentic, functional, and of outstanding preservation, its aesthetic and mechanical condition, combined with the presence of the original box, make it a high-level collectible piece, suitable for both display and refined use.
