Description from the seller
We present to you the Marlen Cadran Solaire Prestige Collection.
Sumptuous, most luxurious, regal yet intriguing and original... Certainly unique, with irresistible and unmistakable charm! A dual-purpose instrument that allows you to discover the pleasure of owning something completely different and absolutely unique and rare: the sundial pen. The Cadran Solaire Prestige pen is made using microfusion (solid silver); each piece is then handcrafted by the Marlen jewelers, who meticulously refine the shapes and details. Precious stones (3 rubies) are set into it. The sundial, which has been miniaturized to fit the cylindrical shape of the pen, displays the hours of the day and the different constellations. At the top end, around the cap, are engraved the initials of the 12 months of the calendar, from which vertical lines extend toward the pen's shaft, indicating the zodiac signs. To use the Cadran Solaire as a sundial, hold the pen vertically and open the horizontal gnomon at a 90° angle relative to the time lines on the dial (the pen's shaft). The three spheres of the gnomon correspond to the three latitude points on the pen (highlighted with rubies), indicating 40°, 45°, and 50°. When the pen is used as a fountain pen, the gnomon must be closed. The gnomon is made of solid gold. One of the high-relief engravings on the pen, near the grip, features the phrase 'EN GIRO TORTE SOL CICLOS ET ROTOR IGNE,' which can be read from left to right and right to left — indicating the extraordinary infinite solar cycle of the seasons. At both ends of the pen (the cap tip and the barrel end), the artisans Marlen have expressed their finest craftsmanship by engraving high-relief designs of the sun and a compass. The grip is made of veined gray celluloid. It features a bottom push-button loading mechanism. Even the packaging of the Cadran Solaire is befitting such an important pen.
