Dinner plate - Hard-paste porcelain

Set of Four Chinese Blue & White Porcelain Plates – Kangxi Period (1662–1722), Qing Dynasty A fine and attractive set of four Chinese blue and white porcelain plates, dating to the Kangxi period (circa 1700) of the Qing Dynasty, produced in the renowned kilns of Jingdezhen. The plates are finely hand-painted in underglaze cobalt blue, displaying elegant garden scenes with stylised rocks, flowering branches, insects, and fenced architectural elements, typical of Kangxi-period decorative taste. The rims are enriched with a foliate (scalloped) border and a continuous floral and vine pattern, creating a harmonious and well-balanced composition. The porcelain body is of good quality, with a smooth glaze and a lively, rich blue often described as “sapphire” or “kingfisher” blue, characteristic of Kangxi blue and white wares. On the underside, each plate bears an auspicious symbol mark within a double blue circle, likely representing an artemisia leaf or lingzhi fungus. Such symbolic marks were commonly used on non-imperial wares during the Kangxi reign, following restrictions on the use of imperial reign marks. Details: • Origin: China, Jingdezhen kilns • Period: Kangxi period, Qing Dynasty (1662–1722) • Material: Porcelain • Decoration: Underglaze blue garden scenes with floral borders • Mark: Auspicious symbol within double blue circle • Quantity: Set of four plates Condition: Overall good antique condition, consistent with age and use. Minor firing imperfections, light glaze wear, and small spots typical for 17th–18th century porcelain. No major cracks or restorations observed (please review photos carefully). A charming and authentic Kangxi-period set, ideal for collectors of early Qing porcelain or as a refined decorative display.
