Stilleven, an oil painting by Toon Koster from the Netherlands, dated 1950–1960, hand signed, original edition, 140 cm high by 70 cm wide, depicting a still life, sold by Galerie and framed.
Description from the seller
'There is no direction' and 'everything is repetition,' replied Toon Koster when asked which movement he belonged to and what subjects he preferred to paint. Trained at the academy in Rotterdam, Koster developed into a versatile artist: he painted, was a graphic artist, craftsperson, and enameler, and also created important murals. In an impressionistic manner, he painted landscapes, village and cityscapes, portraits, and still lifes. His scenes are often painted in dark earthy tones with broad, coarse brushstrokes, creating a charged atmosphere. Koster was a member of the Dutch Federation of Visual Artists.
Canvas dimensions: 135 x 65
signed
Provenance
Originating from a private collection.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
