Description from the seller
FRUIT ON THE TABLE is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. In this painting, a table becomes an intimate and luminous stage, where everyday objects take on an almost ceremonial presence. A bright yellow tablecloth dominates the composition, radiating warmth and serving as a vibrant base on which the elements rest: blue and white ceramic plates, pink glass cups, calmly arranged cutlery, and a slender bottle suggesting a leisurely meal, shared or upcoming.
The fruits — ripe oranges with thick skin and generous brushstrokes — are grouped on a dark plate and naturally scattered across the table, some opened to reveal their juicy pulp. This gesture introduces a sense of frozen time, as if someone had just risen for a moment, leaving the scene suspended between use and contemplation.
In the background, vegetal forms are hinted at with large green leaves that dialogue with the interior space, blurring the boundary between inside and outside. The palette, dominated by yellows, greens, and blues, reinforces a Mediterranean, sunny, and serene atmosphere, where the light not only illuminates but also constructs the scene.
The brushstroke is loose and expressive, visible, celebrating the pictorial material and moving away from meticulous detail to focus on the emotion of color and the balance of composition. Fruits on the table is not just a still life: it is an invitation to pause, to the simple pleasure of looking, sharing, and inhabiting the moment.
