Artist's Biography
Guillem Fresquet Bardina (Barcelona, 1914 – Tarragona, 1991) was a Catalan painter and draftsman, especially known for his work as a watercolorist.
Training and early years
He was born in the Poblenou neighborhood of Barcelona and studied at the Escola de Llotja, where he specialized in drawing and graphic techniques.
In the 1930s, he worked as an illustrator and poster artist, an activity that consolidated his mastery of line and compositional synthesis.
Work and theme
He is considered one of the most prominent Catalan watercolor artists of the 20th century, with a body of work focused on urban landscapes, ports, maritime scenes, and boidegones.
His style combines a clear figurative foundation with a loose, atmospheric treatment of color, which is evident in both his watercolors and some port-themed oils.
Market presence
His works frequently appear in Spanish and European auctions, in watercolor and oil formats, usually featuring ports, village landscapes, and city views.
It remains a valued name among watercolor and 20th-century Catalan painting collectors, with moderate but stable starting prices.
