The set includes a varied selection of spherical and cylindrical (rolling-pin type) floats, showcasing a range of soft sea-green, aqua, and olive tones typical of hand-blown Japanese glass. Several floats in this group feature original embossed markings, including kanji and katakana characters, which are highly sought after by collectors and indicate production by different regional glassworks.

Over many decades at sea, some of the floats have developed natural marine encrustations, such as barnacles and other sea growth.
