Description from the seller
Æ (Spain, b. 1977) — Pikachu — Lost Signal
Mixed Media Triptych · 2025
Limited edition · Hand-signed · Certificate included
This triptych presents Pikachu reimagined in a quiet, monochrome space setting. Removed from color and spectacle, the familiar figure becomes small and contemplative, framed by darkness, scattered light, and distance. The work focuses on mood and atmosphere rather than narrative, allowing stillness and scale to shape the experience.
Across the three panels, the imagery unfolds as a gentle visual sequence — curiosity, pause, and isolation — suggesting exploration without destination. The restrained black-and-white palette emphasizes contrast and texture, transforming a pop-culture icon into a reflective presence within an imagined cosmos.
Each panel is individually hand-finished, introducing subtle variations while maintaining the cohesion of the triptych as a single work.

About the Artist
Æ is a Barcelona-based artist and designer with academic training in Digital Design and Multimedia Technologies (2004) and East Asian Studies. From an early engagement with digital media and visual subcultures, he developed a distinctive visual language shaped by minimalism, conceptual art, and graphic influences rooted in skateboard culture.
His work is held in private collections across more than 30 countries, including The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In 2024, Æ’s work entered a public institutional collection with its acquisition by the Oriental Art Collection at the Zaragoza Museum, home to one of Spain’s most significant archives of Eastern art.
Æ’s practice is characterized by restraint and clarity. Working with a reduced palette and high-contrast compositions, his works explore recurring themes of isolation, duality, and stillness. East Asian visual traditions, symbolic forms, and contemporary cultural icons are distilled into minimal yet emotionally charged images, encouraging contemplation rather than spectacle.
Critical Reception
Art critic Thierry Fournier (Artnoises) writes of Æ’s work:
“A transgression of borders, merging the DNA of civilization’s past and future. Æ creates a ticket for emotional teleportation — a minimalist aesthetic that opens onto a timeless space filled with unexplored signs and symbols.”
