Henri Matisse, Florilège des Amours, lithography, a 1974 facsimile edition, unsigned, in excellent condition; image size 28 × 21.5 cm.
Description from the seller
These creations by Henri Matisse (1869-1954) served as illustrations for the prestigious poetry collection 'Florilège des Amours' by Pierre de Ronsard (1524-1585). The reproductions are each 280 x 215 mm.
This edition in Facsimile was printed in Switzerland in 1974 and was authorized by Albert Skira, a Swiss publisher and an authority in art circles. The original lithograph dates from 1948.
This work is a high-quality reproduction from 1974 and is therefore nearly half a century old. The reproduction is hardly distinguishable from the original work from 1948 because the same printing process and paper type were used. The work has been carefully preserved and has never been framed.
This reproduction is safely packed and insured shipped with Track and Trace.
Henri Émile Benoît Matisse (December 31, 1869 – November 3, 1954) was a French artist, known for both his use of color and his flowing and original drawing. He was a draftsman, printmaker, and sculptor, but is primarily known as a painter. Matisse is generally regarded, along with Pablo Picasso, as one of the artists who best helped define the revolutionary developments in visual arts during the first decades of the twentieth century, responsible for significant advances in painting and sculpture. Pierre de Ronsard (September 11, 1524 – December 27, 1585) was a French poet, or as his own generation in France called him, a 'prince of poets'.
