Description from the seller
Corneille (Guillaume Corneille Beverloo, 1922–2010)
Screen print, hand-signed and numbered
This colorful and expressive screen print by Corneille, co-founder of the international COBRA movement, showcases a characteristic figurative composition full of imagination and creativity. At the center, we see a seated female figure in warm yellow and red tones, set against an intense red and blue landscape. Behind her appears a playful, almost mythical creature that adds extra dynamism and tension to the scene.
The powerful color fields, black contour lines, and free forms are characteristic of Corneille's visual language. The work reflects his ongoing search for spontaneity, freedom, and a direct, intuitive way of creating. The composition appears simple and direct, yet it simultaneously possesses a strong emotional and visual expressive power.
This screen print is hand-signed by the artist, numbered, and printed in a limited edition, making the work particularly attractive to collectors of Cobra art and post-war modernism.
Technique: screen printing on paper.
Signature: hand-signed bottom right.
Print run: numbered bottom left.
Condition: very good
Origin: European collection
A strong and recognizable work by Corneille that convincingly expresses the essence of the Cobra movement.
