Beautiful antique silver lidded box from the former Austro-Hungarian Empire, specifically Pest (Budapest). This characterful piece features the well-known Diana silver hallmark and the city mark 'P' of Pest, which beautifully substantiates its origin and authenticity.
The box has an elegant, voluminous ribbed/'melon'-shaped form with a decorative knob on the lid and stands on four legs, giving it a stately appearance. Ideal as a jewelry box, bonbonnière, tobacco/cigarette casket, or as a decorative showpiece in a classic or eclectic interior.
