Description from the seller

A faithful reprint of the 1850 edition.
Edition of 1,199 copies printed on Canaletto paper from the Cordenons paper mill, numbered by hand, ours being no. 21 - Large format volume (approximately 35 x 50 cm) in red leather with gold title and embellishments on the spine, plain hard case, 208 pages with numerous splendid full-page plates.
In addition to the general views of the Tournament taken from two airy paintings by Salvatore Fergola, the remaining 72 color plates included in the volume depict the carts and the individual protagonists in their refined costumes.
The folio volume was published to pass down to posterity a memorable festive event sponsored by the Sovereign: the armed tournaments in the style of the 14th century, which took place on February 8 and 15, 1846, in the square in front of the Royal Palace of Caserta for the entertainment of the court and its people.
An item in good condition and like new, of a rare and valuable edition.
