Marina, signed L. Loni, oil on panel painting from the French School dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, France, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Oil on panel 'Marina', French School, 19th century – France
Exceptional painting depicting a Mediterranean marine landscape. The two fishing boats in the center of the composition stand out. In the farthest part, a village with a small port characteristic of coastal areas can be seen.
Highlight the use of different brushstrokes, as in some areas the brushwork is shorter and more textured, creating various textures depending on the amount of pigment used. The chromatic range consists of earthy and warm colors. The work moves between impressionism and post-impressionism, where artists no longer focus on precise details, but instead, the treatment of light becomes the main focus. In this case, the pink color of the sky suggests it is dawn.
Signed in the lower right corner, where it reads 'L. Loni', and there is also a seal on the back of the French framing workshop 'Chiesa. Marchand d’estampes'.
Finally, one cannot ignore the impressive gold-finished wooden frame with excellent carved scrolls and ornamental flowers. Undoubtedly, it is a unique piece that will add elegance to any room and will leave no one indifferent.
