Biography of Hoang Anh.
Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, Vit was born and works in Hanoï.
Originally from Thanh Hoa province, located 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to this pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the '8x' generation) who combine cultural heritage with contemporary abstraction. A graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, he has established himself in the Hanoi art scene through a bold approach to matter and color.
Graduated from the artistic talents program (Class of 13) at the Thanh Hoá School of Culture and Arts.
Graduate of the Painting Department (class of 48) at the University of Fine Arts of Vietnam
Style and Artistic Approach
Hoang Anh's work is distinguished by intense exploration of texture and movement. Although he explores various themes such as landscapes, nature, and the female figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power:
The energy of the gesture: A lover of oil and acrylic painting, he frequently uses a palette knife to apply color with vigorous horizontal strokes. This gesture creates an almost musical rhythm on the canvas.
Color contrasts: His work plays on the opposition between often neutral backgrounds (urban grays, textured whites) and flashes of primary colors — fiery reds, sunny yellows, and deep blues — which seem to burst from the surface.
Lyrical abstraction: His works do not aim to reproduce reality but to capture its emotional essence. His paintings often evoke ephemeral phenomena: the reflection of light on water, the vibration of heat, or the agitation of a metropolis in full transformation.
Exhibitions and Recognition
An active and recognized artist, Hoang Anh regularly exhibits in prestigious galleries in Hanoi and within national artistic collectives. His works are part of numerous private collections, both in Vietnam and internationally, captivating with their ability to translate an Eastern sensibility into a universal and modern language.
Painting is for me a breath, a way to capture the invisible energy that surrounds us.
